Policies: Hardware and Software
All requests for hardware and software upgrades on Media Services/ School of Communications non-linear workstations, studios and suites must be
presented to Desktop Technical Services Director for approval.
All malfunctions of Media Services non-linear workstations should fill out a trouble report / work order giving as much detail of the problem as you can. Trouble reports (paper) can be found at Media Services front desk or to fill out a work orders you need to go on line to, http://www.webster.edu/technology/workorders/place_workorder.html, then choose "Technology Work Request".
Only software licensed to Webster University can be installed on any Media Services non-linear workstation.
All unlicensed (rouge) software will be removed immediately without question.
Licensed software or utilities may not be copied, reproduced, removed or transferred from workstation to workstation.
No, third party software or utility may be installed on any studio/suite workstation.
The use of the internet on production computers is strictly prohibited.
Media Servicess Computer Technician needs to be aware of any outside equipment that may be installed in any production,
postproduction, studio, suite or workstation.
Media Services and the School of Communication will not be responsible for any project stored on any hard drive or non-linear editing machine.
Violators of the software and hardware installment policy will be subject to punitive actions.
Computer Preventative Maintenance
Computer maintenance will take place in all studios, editing suites and workstations listed below,
during the below preventative maintenance schedule. Access during computer maintenance to any studio, editing suites or
workstations will be declined during maintenance times.

Students have five business days after finals to remove their projects or make duplications.
During computer maintenance times workstations may require reformatting and de-fragmenting of the hard drive this will cause data to be lost. Students need to
save their projects to their external firewire drives; any projects stored on the internal drives will be lost at maintenance times.
All requests for extended storage must be communicated from the faculty member/mentor to Media Services's Computer Technician
and Assistant Director before the end of the semester.
