David A. Wilson is division manager in planning for the East-West Gateway Council of Governments, where he heads the Gateway Blueprint for Sustainable Futures in the St. Louis Region , a collaborative effort focused on long-term development and quality of life issues. He is the project lead on developing the Blueprint Model , an adaptation of the University of Illinois Land Use Evolution & Assessment Model (LEAM) to the St. Louis region.   The model integrates social, economic and environmental factors to assist local decision-making by projecting regional land use changes resulting from transportation and other development projects.  

Mr. Wilson previously served as director of education at the St. Louis Science Center and manager of environmental education at the Missouri Botanical Garden; and he has ten years experience in private consulting firms working with electric, natural gas and water utilities, as well as small businesses and not for profit organizations on planning and educational programs. He earned a BA from Yale University and an MA from Washington University in St. Louis.  

David Wilson is co-editor of At the Confluence: Rivers, Floods and Water Quality in the St. Louis Region , Missouri Botanical Garden Press, 2003. Mr. Wilson teaches as an adjunct professor at Webster University.   He currently serves on the board of trustees of The College School of Webster Groves; he is secretary of the board of directors of St. Louis Earth Day, and the also secretary of the St. Louis Metropolitan Section of the American Planning Association.
