    Webster University Parent Corps

Parent Corps volunteers work under the direction of the Webster University Parents Council in conjunction with the University’s Office of Alumni and Development Programs. The Parents Council exists as a formal channel of communication between the parent community and the University, and supports Webster on matters of strategic importance as it relates to students. The Parents Council plays an integral role in the University’s Alumni and Parents Programs, and specifically, serves as a vital resource to Parent Programs planning and execution.

Parent Corps volunteers assist the Parents Council in their efforts to support three key areas of strategic importance to Webster University:

    New Student Recruitment
    1. increasing new student applications
    2. converting admitted students to enrolled students
    3. ensuring enrolled students attend
    Student Retention
    1. student life, co-curricular and extra-curricular engagement
    2. parental peer-to-peer involvement to support persistence
    Parents Fund Participation
    1. increasing the percentage of parents making annual gifts of support for Webster

    Responsibilities & Duties

Parent Corps volunteers could be asked to perform a range of activities depending upon the needs of the University. Examples of activities include writing personal notes to the parents of admitted students, serving on a discussion panel for the benefit of parents of prospective students, hosting a booth at University Open House, volunteering to work alongside an Admissions Officer at a College Fair, providing a testimonial for a Webster website, and other opportunities as they are identified. Parent Corps volunteers are not required to engage in all activities asked of them by the Parents Council, but are encouraged to participate in those in which their skills and abilities are best utilized and where they feel most comfortable.

    Support & Direction

Parent Corps volunteers will take their direction from Parents Council volunteer leadership, working in conjunction with the University’s Office of Alumni and Development Programs. Direction will be provided in the form of written communiqués and where applicable workshops/orientation sessions will be conducted to provide Parent Corps volunteers with a clear understanding of the task(s) for which they are charged. Logistical support is provided by the Office of Alumni and Development Programs which assumes all direct expenses associated with the execution of these activities.

    Service

Parent Corps volunteers serve an initial two-year term and may serve an additional two-year term at their discretion.
