    Learn the rudiments of jazz improvisation, improvise over chord changes and play jazz phrases, rhythms and licks.   Learn scales common to jazz repertoire, understand chord symbols and listen to jazz greats.  

    Blues and jazz standards will be introduced, and basics of jazz history studied.

    Prerequisite
    Must be able to play an instrument and read music. Knowledge of major scales is very helpful.
