Who is eligible for graduation?
• Any Webster student who has completed all requirements for their Masters Degree by the end of the Spring 2, 2012, term.
• Those who will complete their last class or classes in Summer 2012 may also march in the ceremony, but must inform the graduation council of their desire and must be registered for said final classes.
Steps to complete for graduation
1. Fill out a Graduation Petition Form
You should complete a Graduation Petition Form when you register for your last class. A $50 fee graduation fee will also be assessed and may have already been charged to your account Please check, as your petition will not be completed if the graduation fee has not been paid.
If you have not filled out a graduation petition form, it is available at your local Webster campus or you may download it here (see above). When you have completed the form, turn it in to your local Webster campus as soon as possible.
Note: Even if you are not planning on marching in the National Capitol Region Ceremony, you must fill out a graduation petition in order to have your degree conferred.
Diplomas will arrive from the Main Campus 8-10 weeks after your last class. If you do not receive your diploma in that amount of time, please call 1-800-981-9801 for assistance.
2. Provide local campus with up-to-date contact information
As graduation information will be sent to the address we have on file, please make sure this is current. We will also be sending out e-mail updates and reminders, please verify that your local Webster campus locations have your current e-mail address on file.
3. Fill out and return the Graduation RSVP sheet
This form is necessary in order to be included in the graduation ceremony for the National Capitol Region. This form will indicate whether or not you plan to attend and the approximate number of guests you intend to bring. There is no limit on the amount of guests you can bring. Also, please note that no tickets will be issued for the guests. The graduation RSVP sheet be mailed out with the graduation packet starting in February. THIS IS YOUR TICKET TO THE GRADUATION CEREMONY! Without it, we will not have you listed as attending graduation and therefore we will not have a place reserved for you at the ceremony.
Note: Even if you do not plan to attend the graduation ceremony, please fill out this form and indicate that you will not be present at the ceremony - in this way, we can remove you from our graduate contact list and therefore prevent you from receiving unnecessary e-mail reminders and updates.
4. Order your cap & gown
After April 1, students may order a cap and gown by calling the bookstore at (314) 968-5936 or 1-888-GORLOKS (1-888-467-5657). Cap and gown expenses are the responsibility of the student. Graduation regalia is required to participate in the National Capitol Region Ceremony
5. Graduating with honors
Graduates finishing their program with a GPA of 3.95 and above are considered honor graduates. Honor cords will be provided to those students who have completed their program and fit into this category at the graduation ceremony.
Note: Those graduating with a sequential Master’s are not eligible for honors status.
6. Other information
It is HIGHLY recommended that you do a "dry run" to American University before the graduation ceremony date. In years past, we have had students who missed marching because they had gotten lost on their way and did not make it to the ceremony in time. DON'T LET THIS HAPPEN TO YOU!
Directions to American University are linked at the top of this page, complete with a map. The ceremony will be held in the Bender Arena.
