I. Course description: The internship augments the Legal Studies curriculum by placing the student in a legal work environment under the supervision of an attorney internship supervisor. It provides students with the opporunity to gain practical experience as a paralegal in a private or public law firm,
government agency or corportation.
II. Prerequisites: To be eligible for the internship, a student should have completed all required courses for the paralegal certificate. In addition, the student should do the following:
*Review and complete the internship packet attached to the syllabus. *Contact Anne Geraghty-Rathert to discuss potential sources for internships. *Obtain permission from Anne Geraghty-Rathert and the site supervisor.
III. Grading: Grading will be based on the evaluation score as provided by the site supervisor and on the Legal Internship Instructor's evaluation of the student's journal and work log, and other materials produced by the student in the course of the internship.
Credit Hours: Undergraduate students may enroll for three to six credit hours, with a minimum of 130 field hours for each three credits. Graduate students may enroll for three to six credit hours, with a minimum of 150 field hours for each.
