Two outstanding educators will be leading Webster University into its continued growth as a premier international institution. Following an extensive search, members of the Webster University Board of Trustees have chosen Dr. Elizabeth Stroble as the University's President and Chief Executive Officer, and Interim President Dr. Neil J. George as Webster's first Chancellor.
Dr. Stroble, who will become the University's 14th president, comes to Webster from the University of Akron in Ohio where she served as Senior Vice President, Provost and Chief Operating Officer. For the 13 years prior to his 2008 appointment as Webster's interim president, Dr. George served as Executive Vice President and Vice President for Academic Affairs.
"Dr. Stroble's sterling credentials and demonstrated abilities as an academic leader, administrator, and educator are a great match for Webster," said George H. Walker III, chair of the University's Board of Trustees.
"Dr. Elizabeth Stroble is a prototype for the 21st century University President," said Dean Akande who served as a member of the presidential search committee. "Her passion for education, collaborative style of leadership, and commitment to academic excellence are assets that she brings to Webster University."
Heralded as one of the most committed, talented leaders he knows, Mr. Walker said as Webster's first chancellor, Dr. George will provide counsel to Dr. Stroble on the general development and welfare of the University, as well as matters of educational excellence, major capital projects and fundraising.
"We are proud of his decades of service to Webster University, and he has been instrumental in making Webster global and highly accredited," Mr. Walker said. "As chancellor, Neil will play an active role in our continued growth."
"Dr. Neil George is a respected leader in global education with a strong affection for learning," Dean Akande added. "Webster University will be well positioned to continue its leading role in global education with the expertise of Dr. George."
