Audition Process

Acceptance to the Department of Dance as a degree-seeking student is by audition. There is no audition required for a dance minor. Auditions are held on campus throughout the year and conducted in the form of a class. The class will consist of ballet and modern techniques. It is preferable that applicants have a solid background in ballet. Each dancer must wear a leotard and tights and be prepared to work in ballet, modern, and perhaps jazz.

The audition consists of the following:

    •    An interview to discuss career goals and past history

    •    Submission of a resume

    •    Performance of approximately three minutes of choreography

    •    Participation in both a ballet and modern technique class
