What does "Web Enhanced" mean?

Web Enhanced courses are courses that meet in a classroom, but also have a web page that faculty may use to offer additional course materials and exercises in WorldClassRoom to improve the learning experience.

Will WorldClassRoom replace Connections?

The term Connections can mean a few things. It can be short for the Connections Web Portal, a web site that contains tools such as e-mail, calendar, and specialized "channels" of information. One of these tool is the Connections Course Tools, where each class has its own web page. These Connections Course Tools will be replaced by WorldClassRoom, but one will continue to access course home pages from the same point inside the Connections Web Portal. Access to Connections Course Tools and Fall class content ends on December 21st. Faculty who plan to re-use course content from the Fall term should download and store it before this date. The Spring term WorldClassRoom sections will be available to faculty beginning December 22nd.

Will Connections Course Tools completely go away?

Yes. Once the transition is made, Connections Course Tools will no longer be available. For each feature available in Connections Course Tools, there is an equal or better tool in WorldClassRoom.

What is "Blackboard Vista" or "WebCT Vista?"

Blackboard and WebCT are two software companies that merged to become just Blackboard. Vista is a product of this company that we have purchased and is the software used in WorldClassRoom. Because the Blackboard/WebCT merger was so recent, and some of these brand names are present in WorldClassRoom, you might hear or see references to them.

Will I be able to move course content from class to class, semester to semester?

Yes. Each semester, each class will get a new empty course home page just like with Connections Course Tools. However, unlike with Connections, you will have several options for moving content from class to class. The My Files features acts like a briefcase, allowing you to store files that can be added to any course. Also, more than one file can be uploaded at one time, a substantial improvement over Connections Course Tools.
