Web Page & FTP Server Space Information
Server space for web pages and FTP is automatically provided for staff when you activate your Connections account. If you do not already have a Connections account and are a current Webster staff you may obtain one using the instructions above regarding email. Specific instructions in uploading to your web space can be found in one of the questions below.
Specific Logon Information
To upload and view their site, this is the information Webster users will need:
All Users:
FTP Host/Server name: This information will be whatever your email server name is. To find out your email server, go to http://connections.webster.edu/myaccount and login with your Connections username and password. After logging in, click on the link that says “Settings for my desktop e-mail program”. Whatever is listed for incoming and outgoing server will be your FTP Host/Server name.
Username: Connections username
Password: Connections password
To access their site*: http://servername.webster.edu/~username
*Replace “servername” with your email server name and “username” with your Connections username.
Be sure to upload all documents into the folder named "public_html" and name the first document "index.html." This is an unsupported service that is offered as-is. The Help Desk cannot provide support for this service.
There is also a public FTP server available at ftp.webster.edu. Log in using "anonymous" as your username and your email address as your password. This FTP server contains assorted files that might be of use to our community. Additions can be suggested to ftpadmin@webster.edu.
WS_FTP and Fetch
WS_FTP and Fetch areFile Transfer Protocol client programs. It allows you to connect to file servers and upload, download, or delete files. Students and staff/faculty can use this program to post their web pages on an HTTP (web) server.
