    Resident Assistants (RAs):

    The Resident Assistant (RA) is responsible for the development and enhancement of the community and each individual resident under their care in the residence halls or Webster Village Apartments.  The RA supplements and complements the process of formal education by enhancing the quality of life in the residential community.  RAs are expected to be known, visible and an active resident within their area of responsibility and the entire hall/complex as well.  Expectations include maintaining communication between residents and professional staff, implementation of the on-campus policies, procedures and regulations, as well as those of the University, and participation in the day to day operations of the facility as assigned by professional staff.  The RA provides leadership for all residents and assists in planning of educational and social activities that make the group living experience support student learning & retention.

    John Buck, D. Mgt., Director, Housing and Residential Life

    John Buck serves as Associate Dean of Students and Director of Housing and Residential Life.  Buck holds a BA in sociology from Colorado State University, an MA in Management and Leadership from Webster University, and a Doctorate in Management from Webster University.   In addition to his roles with housing and residential life, Buck also supervises student health services, counseling and life development, and coordinates WebsterLEADS, the university's leadership development program.  He is adjunct faculty at Webster and frequently consults for non-profit and private sector organizations.  His doctoral dissertation research focused on the decision-making processes of chief housing officers during crisis situations on college campuses.

    Justin Frederick, Assistant Director, Housing and Residential Life
    Justin's primary responsibilities are to supervise both Community Directors and the Housing Coordinator, act as a Student Conduct Officer, and work with other Departments around campus in creating a well-rounded residential experience.  He also advises the Student Board of Directors for Campus Dining.  He holds a bachelor’s degree in social work from Pittsburg State (KS) and a master's degree in college student personnel administration from the University of Central Missouri.  He has been working professionally in the Residence Life field for the last eight years.

    Katie Knetzer, Assistant Director, Housing and Residential Life

    Katie is responsible for coordinating many departmental processes, including RA Training and Development, Student Staff Selection, and Summer Camps and Conferences. She also supervises the following student staff members: Student Coordinator of Building Operations, Student Coordinator of Special Projects, and Customer Service Associate Student Supervisor.  In addition, she manages the department's marketing plan and website updates. In her free time, you can find Katie enjoying Forest Park, reading a good book, or perusing the Fresh Ink Hallmark cards. She has 2 cats and 2 dogs (Watson, Wink, Mackenzie, and Penny).

    Chris Rice, Community Director for the Webster Village Apartments and Maria Hall

    Chris is the Community Director for the Webster Village Apartments and Maria Hall.  He manages the day-to-day operations of the WVA and Maria Hall which includes facilities and maintenance, staffing and personnel issues, student conduct issues, room changes, student success initiatives, and serving as a resource for all students.  Chris also supervises 10 Resident Assistants; 6 in the WVA and 4 in Maria Hall.  Chris received his Bachelor’s of Arts in Political Science from Winthrop University.  He received his Masters of Arts in Student Affairs Administration in Higher Education from Ball State University.

    Megan Lucsko, Community Director for West and East Halls

    Megan is the Community Director for West and East Halls, and she supervises the 11 RAs for both buildings. She works with the day-to-day operations of the halls, including facilities, judicial hearings, room adjustments, and student success. She is also a valuable resource for students. Megan serves as the co-advisor for Residential Housing Association, a student organization that provides programs, leadership opportunities, and advocacy for all on-campus residents. During her free time, Megan loves traveling, trying new restaurants, going to the movies with friends, and walking her dog with her husband.

    Kelly Malone, Coordinator, Housing and Residential Life

    Kelly handles room placement, billing, meal plan and bonus bucks contracts. She also oversees the hall resident mailrooms and supervises the Customer Service Associates for the Residence Halls. Kelly has worked for the Office of Housing and Residential Life for 15 years.  She is married and has three children in college and grad school.  She loves to watch waterpolo, swimming and hockey.  She reads and watches old movies in her free time.

    Larry Mitchell, Maintenance Supervisor, Webster Village Apartments

    Larry Mitchell is the Maintenance Supervisor at the Webster Village Apartments. He manages the overall facilities, landscape and general maintenance of the apartments. Larry supervises a full time Maintenance Assistant and 2 student staff. Larry has been with the WVA since it opened in 1997 and has won numerous Maintenance Man of the Year awards. In his downtime, Larry like to fix old cars, hang out with his family and watch movies.

    Jay Russell, Student Coordinator of Building Operations

    As Student Coordinator of Building Operations, Jay coordinates West, East, and Maria Hall front desk functions and  supervises the desk managers and desk attendants.  She is a senior Advertising/Marketing Communications major born in St. Louis but raised in Orlando, Fl. Jay has worked in Housing and Residential life for 2 years prior as a Resident Assistant and loves the job so much she plans to pursue a graduate degree in Higher Education. Jay loves to smile and make others smile.

    Chris Venable, Student Coordinator of Special Projects

    Chris helps both the RAs and the Housing department by planning and executing RA training in the Summer and Winter, Room Sign-Up, and RA Selection. He also plans sustainability programming and helps with September and Spring Spectaculars. This is Chris' third year working for Housing and Residential Life. He is a senior double major in Mathematics and Secondary Education from St. Peters, Missouri.

    AJ Wallace, Resident Assistant for Administration and Projects

    AJ is responsible for assisting the professional staff in Housing and Residential Life with a variety of projects, including tasks associated with professional associations, summer camps and conferences, committees, programming, recognition, marketing, and assessment. AJ is a senior Audio Production major, and he also works as a Gorlok Guide.

    Skylar Neal, Customer Service Associate Student Supervisor

    Skylar is originally from Arkansas and is a senior majoring in Political Science with an emphasis in Public Law. He enjoys the city atmosphere, playing tennis, and cars. Skylar started working for Housing and Residential Life the summer of 2010. As the CSA supervisor, he takes responsibility for supervising the Customer Service Associates by making sure day-to-day office operations are carried out correctly. Skylar says it is a pleasure working for housing because of the great working environment and the interaction with the residents.

    Amanda Beals, Desk Manager for West Hall
    Amanda Beals is the Desk Manager of West Hall for the school year of 2012-2013. Her responsibility in this position is to supervise the West Hall Desk Attendants to ensure the best possible experience for Webster students. She was a Desk Attendant for one semester before becoming the Desk Manager of Maria Hall in the 2011-2012 school year. She also held the position of Maintenance Assistant during the summer of 2012. She is a secondary education major with an emphasis in English Language Arts, and she enjoys helping people to the best of her abilities.

    Kim Meyer, Desk Manager for East Hall
    Kim Meyer is the Desk Manager for East Hall. She supervises the Desk Attendants and builds community at the desk.  She worked as a Desk Attendant for the Fall 2012 semester.  She is also a member of RHA and SEA, and she is a sophomore elementary education major. Community means a lot to Kim, so building relationships with the desk attendants and other residents is important to her. She considers herself a happy person and will always say hello to people she knows.

    Katy Barry, Desk Manager for Maria Hall
    Katy works with the desk attendants at Maria Hall. Together they provide security to the students and guests who are in the dorm. She works closely with the RAs, pro-staff, and desk attendants to provide a safe environment in Maria Hall. She is also a sophomore Psychology major and plans on graduate school for counseling. She has been with the ResLife department for 1 year.
