    Financial Aid Information

Graduate students are eligible for federally backed loans and private grants. All applicants for loans must file a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). To apply, they must also complete a Webster University form (see below).

Loans cannot be processed until the FAFSA information has been received in the Financial Aid Office in St. Louis and has been reviewed. A majority of graduate students who get aid receive Stafford Loans.

Students must be enrolled at least half-time to receive loans. For each nine-week session, half-time is three credit hours for graduate students. Normally, a student must file a loan request for both Spring (Spring 1 and Spring 2) or Fall terms (Fall 1 and Fall 2).

There are some private scholarships and grants available through private sources. The University does not track these scholarship offerings but an Internet search will provide you with some options.

    Financial Aid Application Process

To determine if you are eligible for need based aid, you must:

    • Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or Renewal Application as early as possible.
    • Your application (file) must be complete by March 30 for maximum consideration of gift and student employment assistance. Applications completed after March 30 will be awarded from remaining funds. Student loan applications are accepted throughout the academic year.
    • Complete a Webster University Financial Aid Form (see above).
    • Approximately 4-6 weeks after you mail (or e-mail) the application you will receive a Student Aid Report (SAR). This is your copy for your records. Review it carefully; if there are any corrections to be made, please note the corrections, sign it, and send it to the Financial Aid Office in St. Louis.
    • If additional information is required to process your file, you will receive a follow-up letter from the Financial Aid Office in St. Louis.

Once all information is received by the Financial Aid Office in St. Louis, you will receive an award letter in the mail. This will include the types and amounts of aid you are offered and instructions for applying for the Stafford Loan and PLUS Loan programs.
