Webster University Named a ‘Great College to Work For’ for Fifth Consecutive YearHonor by The Chronicle of Higher Education puts Webster in elite company
ST. LOUIS, Aug. 6, 2012 – Webster University is one of the best colleges to work for, according to the fifth annual workplace survey by The Chronicle of Higher Education – one of the most respected publications serving the academic community. Webster has received top honors in The Chronicle’s survey every year since its inception in 2008, one of only 13 four-year U.S. institutions to establish this record.
The results, released in The Chronicle’s report, “The Academic Workplace,” are based on a survey of more than 46,000 employees at 294 colleges and universities. In all, only 103 of the 294 institutions achieved “Great College to Work For” recognition for specific best practices and policies. Reports are reported for small, medium and large institutions, with Webster included among the large universities with 10,000 or more students.
Webster won honors in three categories this year: Compensation & Benefits, Work/Life Balance, and Respect and Appreciation.
“It is an honor to be recognized among our peers for the fifth consecutive year for the quality of our work environment,” said Webster President Elizabeth (Beth) J. Stroble. “These survey results and subsequent national recognition are an affirmation of Webster’s strengths as a university community. The enthusiasm and commitment that our employees bring each day to meet students’ needs makes Webster University a great place to learn and a great place to work.”
According to The Chronicle, the survey results are based on a two-part assessment process: an institutional audit that captured demographics and workplace policies from each institution, and a survey administered to faculty, administrators and professional support staff. The primary factor in deciding whether an institution received recognition was the employee feedback.
