(Political) Power Play: Holden Public Policy Forum at Webster University Explores the Potential and the Problem of Partisan Politics
Former Mo. Gov. Bob Holden welcomes former GOP National Committee Co-chair, Ann Wagner, to popular Pizza and Politics program.
The Holden Public Policy Forum at Webster University, a nonpartisan program led by former Mo. Gov. Bob Holden, tackles a timely issue just one week after a landmark midterm election.
Pizza and Politics: Political Party Power will take place at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 10 at Webster's Sunnen Lounge in the University Center, 175 Edgar Road in Webster Groves. The event is open to the public and admission is free.
Details are available online at holdenpolicyforum.org. The event will stream live at the Forum's UStream channel, ustream.tv/channel/holden-forum-live.
The event will feature Ann Wagner, a Missourian and St. Louis native with substantial credentials in the Republican Party. Ms. Wagner has served as the U.S. Ambassador to the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg. She was Chair of the Missouri Republican Party for six years, from 1999 until 2005, and Co-chair of the Republican National Committee for four years. Most recently, Ms. Wagner chaired the campaign for now Senator-elect Roy Blunt.
"In our increasingly polarized political climate, the benefits and problems inherent in the system are worth our attention," said Holden, who, as director of the Holden Public Policy Forum, will moderate the town hall-styled event. "Ann is a distinguished individual who has worked her way through the system to positions of leadership within the Republican Party. Her perspective will be of unique interest, particularly in the aftermath of what promises to be a significant midterm election. How has partisanship benefitted and hindered the work for the people? Where do we go from here? That’s a conversation worth having."
Pizza and Politics, a program of the Holden Public Policy Forum at Webster University engages university students, local residents, and the media in civil discourse with political and private sector public policy leaders about the issues impacting the state, region, and nation.
