    JAZZ! A Webster University Big Band Concert featuring Compositions by Thad Jones, Gordon Goodwin, Fred Sturm, Bob Mintzer and others

    What/Who:

    The Webster University Big Band, under the direction of James A. Martin, will perform three classic Big Band compositions by Thad Jones (written 1963 – 1973) including Big Dipper; three early Gordon Goodwin compositions (1979 and 1980) including Raise My Rent, Fred Sturm’s fiery Uppin’ Adam (2003), Manny Mendelson’s haunting arrangement of John Coltrane’s Naima and many more, including Mr. Fonebone from the library of Bob Mintzer.  Program: 

    Raise My Rent, As Special As You and Picture IV, by Gordon Goodwin

    The Count Is In, by Jim Martin

    Naima, by John Coltrane, arr. by Manny Mendelson

    Big Dipper, Kids Are Pretty People and The Great One, by Thad Jones

    Uppin’ Adam, by Fred Sturm

    Mr. Fonebone, by Bob Mintzer
