Webster University Chamber Orchestra and Chamber Singers Perform
What/Who:
Webster University Chamber Singers, under the direction of Dr. Trent Patterson, and the Chamber Orchestra, conducted by Dr. Paul Davis will perform. The concert will open with the Chamber Orchestra performing “Andante Festivo,” an elegant work from the pen of Finnish composer, Jean Sibelius. Following is British composer Edward Elgar’s “Serenade for Strings.” The Serenade is one of Elgar’s most cherished works. The orchestra completes the first half of the program with the exciting music of Bela Bartok’s “Rumanian Folk Dances.”
The Chamber Singers will feature members of the Webster University Chamber Orchestra, Martha J. Hart, mezzo-soprano and the new Voice Faculty member and student soloists. Works to be performed include: Prelude - Ola Gjeilo (1978 - ), Spätherbst (Op. 92 No. 2) - Johannes Brahms (1833 - 1897), Ave Maria - J. Michael Saunders (1989 - ) and Gloria (RV 588) - Antonio Vivaldi (1678 - 1741).
The concert concludes with both ensembles collaborating to perform Antonio Vivaldi’s “Gloria.”
