The Classical Guitar Ensemble Performs at Webster University
What/Who:Webster University presents the Classical Guitar Ensemble, under the direction of John McClellan. The program consists of solo and ensemble performances by Webster University guitar students.
John McClellan is currently a professor of classical guitar for Webster University. In addition, he serves on the boards of Mel Bay Publications, the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra, and is executive director of the St. Louis Guitar Consortium, Inc. Recently he published a guitar technique book about the music of Chet Atkins. McClellan performed with Luciano Pavarotti during his 1999 World Tour, and has done major tours of the U.S and Australia. He has issued several discs as a guitar soloist and as a duo performer with Kirk Hanser. McClellan earned his Master of Music degree at the St. Louis Conservatory of Music. Further studies followed at Yale University with guitarist Benjamin Verdery, Brazilian cellist Aldo Parisot and Bach scholar and harpsichordist Anthony Newman.
