Webster University to Host Clios & Cocktails Event 'Mad Men' Style

Webster University is hosting the American Advertising Federation (AAF) Ad Club St. Louis' annual "Clios & Cocktails" event with a "Mad Men" theme, Thursday, October 28,  from 6 to 10 pm in the University Center Sunnen Lounge, 175 Edgar Road.

The event will raise money for Ad Club's college scholarship program and provide area college students the opportunity to network with St. Louis advertising professionals. Attendees will watch a film of the 2010 Clio Awards, honoring the best television commercials of the year, as well as a film of the Clio winners from the 1960s. Various games are planned for attendees each containing a "Mad Men" theme.

The event is co-sponsored by Ad Club St. Louis and Webster's Marketing Communications Club (MCC). "It's the best advertising from yesterday and today," says President of MCC Jennifer Smith.  "To carry out the 'Mad Men' theme, Smith says the event will include a 'Mad Men' trivia contest and costume contest with prizes.  Webster students will also present a DVD of their most creative advertising projects.

"This year Ad Club has made a special effort to keep the ticket prices for this event super low so everyone can attend," says Sally Howald, faculty advisor for MCC.  Student tickets are only $5 and AAF Ad Club St. Louis members are only $15.  This is the third year Webster's MCC has hosted Ad Club's popular "Clios & Cocktails" event.

The Clio Awards are considered to be the most prestigious awards in the advertising industry.  They are given every year to reward innovation and creative excellence in advertising, design, and communication.  Entries are judged by professionals from around the world.

To register for the event, contact Ad Club St. Louis at (314) 231-4185 or visit www.adclubstlouis.org. Media are encouraged to attend. Contact Christine Eason, director of media relations, Webster University, at: 314-968-5976 or eason@webster.edu.
