    Student Composers Invited to Enter Competition

    WHAT:  Young Composers Competition of the Community Music School of Webster University

    WHO:
    Student composers, ages 12-21, in two age categories: Level I for students ages 12-16, and Level II for students ages 17-21. 

    PRIZES:                    

    •     Recognition at the Young Composers Competition (YCC) concert on Saturday, December 1, 2012.

    •         Professional performance and recording of composition at the YCC concert.

    •         Invited to participate in composition workshop weekend on December 1-2, 2012.  Workshop topics include copyright and self-publishing.

    •         Written critique and conference with guest composer Zack Browning.  Find out more about Mr. Browning at www.zackbrowning.com.

    WHEN:   Entry forms and compositions must be submitted and postmarked by September 21, 2012.

    WHERE: All events will be held at the CMS Center on the Webster University campus, 535 Garden Avenue, St. Louis, MO  63119.

    Student composers ages 12-21 are invited to submit music compositions to the Young Composers Competition of the Community Music School of Webster University, sponsored by Arden & Harry Fisher.  Deadline for submission is Friday, September 21, 2012.

    Since 2004, the Young Composers Competition has recognized and encouraged the efforts of those between the ages of 12 and 21 who are involved in the creative process of composing music.  This program, unique to the St. Louis region, is an open competition which has received submissions from the St. Louis area and throughout the nation.


    The Community Music School of Webster University is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Music and is a certified member of the National Guild of Community Schools of the Arts.   The Community Music School receives assistance from the Arts and Education Council of Greater St. Louis and the Regional Arts Commission.
