Trumpet Days at the Community Music School of Webster University
What:
* A free Trumpet Ensemble concert for all
* A free Trumpet Day Class for ages middle school through adult
Who:
Stephen Leisring, Associate Professor of Trumpet at KU, was with the Tenerife Symphony Orchestra, Canary Isands, Spain, for 14 seasons. He has performed with more than 100 world-class soloists and conductors and can be heard on more than 35 CDs. He also has a keen interest in the connection between peak performance in music and in sports, and has had articles published on the subject.
The Kansas University Trumpet Ensemble is made up of Undergraduate & Graduate music majors and is under the direction of Stephen Leisring and Graduate Student Nitai Pons. The group began the year with a 2-week concert tour to China, performing in large concert halls to critical acclaim. The ensemble has also been named as Finalists at the National Trumpet Competition in both 2006 and 2007.

9 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Play and benefit from interactive sessions in Technique, Practice Tips, and Tone Production, closing with a performance by class participants.
