There's No Place Like Home
We've always known it's a great place to live. And now, a major news organization confirms our opinion. Webster Groves, Mo., home to Webster University’s home campus, ranks No. 61 on CNN Money’s just-released "Top 100 Best Places to Live," a list of America's best small towns.
"These terrific small towns stand out in the qualities American families care about most -- great job opportunities, top-notch schools, safe streets, economic strength, nice weather, plenty to do, and more," said the CNN Money report. "Novelist Jonathan Franzen, who grew up here, has called Webster Groves 'a friendly, unpretentious town.' Nestled among tall oak trees planted 200 years ago, the neighborhoods in Webster Groves offer considerable economic diversity. Just two miles outside St. Louis city limits, the town has affordable housing that draws young families, plus much more expensive homes. Public schools are some of the most competitive in the region."
"We are proud to be part of this wonderful community," said Webster University President Elizabeth (Beth) J. Stroble. "Webster Groves is a great place to live, work and study for our students and for our employees. The University has been committed to this community for almost a century and enjoys deep friendships and partnerships with Webster Groves residents, businesses and organizations."
In addition to the CNN Money recognition, Webster Groves won the America in Bloom Foundation's Heritage Preservation Award in 2010 and ranked ninth in Family Circle magazine's 2008 list of America's "10 Best Cities for Families."
