"The Dead Don't Vote in Alexander County: Portraits and Places in Southernmost Illinois, 2010-2011," a Photography Exhibit at Webster University's May Gallery featuring photographs by Daniel Overturf and words by Gary Marx.
From Photographer Daniel Overturf:
"I am an educator and photographer who resides in Murphysboro, Illinois. I have taught photography at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale since 1990. I have traveled and photographed in various locations throughout the United States. In addition I have photographed in Canada, Mexico, Thailand, Czech Republic, France and the United Kingdom. I have had the chance to live and work for a month of each year in Scotland since 2000, primarily in Arbroath. I have shown my photographs in the USA and abroad. I still do occasional editorial and commercial assignments, but lately I have been concentrating on specific long-term projects. I have co-authored two books, "A River Through Illinois" (2008) with Gary Marx and "Artificial Light for Photography" (2009) with Joy McKenzie."
