Daniel Schene was born in New York City and has been heard as recitalist, concert soloist, chamber musician and accompanist across the U. S. and Canada, as well as France, Italy, Turkey, Greece, Chile, Brazil and Asia. Recent performances have included four appearances at the International Chamber Music Festival of Brazil, a recital at the Salle Cortot in Paris and the Beethoven Fourth Concerto in St. Louis.

Mr. Schene is the duo partner of Eva Szekely, first violinist of the famed Esterhazy Quartet, and of acclaimed soprano Carole Gaspar. In addition, he is a frequent guest artist with the St. Louis Symphony’s Chamber Music St. Louis concerts and the Prelude series at Powell Symphony Hall. He has collaborated with renowned cellist Zara Nelsova and Denes Kovacs, director of the Liszt Academy in Budapest.

After his debut at age fifteen with the Charlotte Symphony, Daniel Schene studied at the North Carolina School of the Arts with Rebecca Penneys, and subsequently received his bachelors’ and masters’ degrees from Indiana University, studying with Gyorgy Sebok and Enrica Cavallo-Gulli. At Indiana University he was the recipient of the prestigious Joseph Battista Memorial Award. In demand as a teacher as well as a performer, Mr. Schene has been Artist in Residence and Director of Keyboard Studies at Webster University since 1983. He is a founding faculty member of the Indiana University Summer Academy and of the Institute for Advanced Vocal Studies in Paris. Mr. Schene records for CRI Records.
