Webster University Hosts 2009 “International Festival - Rock your Roots”
March 31, 2009 – St. Louis, Mo. – The Multicultural Center & International Student Affairs departments at Webster University are hosting “International Festival - Rock Your Roots” on April 17 at the University Center, 175 Edgar Rd., in Webster Groves. The festival showcases delicious food, music, dance, games, displays, cultural performances, henna decorations, and other cultural specialties from around the world. The festival takes place 3-5:00 p.m. and all festival activities are free and open to the public.Festival highlights include St. Louis Osuwa Taiko (Japanese drumming), East St. Louis Community Ensemble (African drumming and dance), Columbian music and dance, Webster University Japanese Student dance – “suran-bushi” and Henna Expressions.
A family event, the festival gives guests a chance to engage in and explore world cultures and traditions through a wide range of mediums including performances, displays and activities. You are invited to try the Japanese taiko (drum), to taste favorite foods from other cultures and win prizes. There will be something for everyone at this year’s International Festival.
