    The Webster University Jazz Collective Presents a Concert Featuring the Music “Mingus, Mintzer, Monk … and More!"


    What/Who
    :

    The Webster University Jazz Collective, under the direction of James A. Martin, performs a concert featuring the music of  jazz legends, “Mingus, Mintzer, Monk … and More!” The Webster Jazz Collective is a 12 piece ensemble that uses a unique combination of instruments, adding flute, voice and violin to the mix of saxophones, trumpets, bass trombone and rhythm section.

    The program will feature the music of notable composers of the last 50 years:

    ·      Charles MINGUS “Better Git It In Your Soul”

    ·      Bob MINTZER “Ancestors”

    ·      Thelonious MONK “Well You Needn’t”

    ·      and the MORE includes:

    Thad Jones “Three and One”

    Josef Zawinul “Mercy, Mercy, Mercy”

    Antonio Carlos Jobim “One Note Samba”

    Bill Holman “Woodrow”

    When:

    Monday, April 16, 2012, 7 p.m.

    Where:

    Moore Auditorium, 470 E. Lockwood Ave., Webster University

    Cost:

    $3 general public, Free to students with valid I.D.
