“A Tribute to Chick Corea,” a Concert by the Webster University Jazz Faculty
What/Who:
Webster University jazz faculty present a concert featuring the music of Chick Corea. The concert will feature music composed by Corea and will include “Return to Forever,” “Litha,” “What Game Shall We Play Today,” “The One Step,” “Sometime Ago,” “Waltse for Dave,” “500 Miles High,” “Crystal Silence” and “Matrix.”
Corea (b. 1941) is regarded as one of the most celebrated composers and keyboard players in jazz since the late 1960's. After a period as a sideman with celebrated jazz icons (Sarah Vaughan, Stan Getz, Miles Davis), Corea began to lead his own celebrated ensembles including Circle, Return to Forever, and his “Elektric” and “Acoustic” bands.
The Webster Jazz Faculty Ensemble is comprised of Debby Lennon-vocals, Paul DeMarinis-saxophones, Steve Schenkel-guitar, Kim Portnoy-piano, Willem von Hombracht-bass and Kevin Gianino-drums.
