Kodachrome End of Run...
Webster University Press is proud to announce its first student/faculty collaborative work. Kodachrome End of the Run, Photographs from the Final Batches, edited by Electronic & Photographic Media professors Bill Barrett and Susan Hacker Stang, includes an extensive gallery of photographs by 36 Webster University students and nine faculty members.
On January 18, 2011, the final rolls of Kodachrome were processed at Dwayne's Photo in Parsons, Kansas. Kodachrome is a farewell homage to and celebration of Kodachrome, which ushered in the modern era of color photography. Introductory essays explore the film's historical importance, its unique scientific formulation, and its iconic status. Webster University students and faculty were on hand in Parsons to watch the end of this era. The photographs selected for this book are from the final batches processed that last day, the day that Kodachrome came to the end of its run.
Save the date: Friday, April 15th, 2011: Kodachrome panel presentation at 3:00 p.m. in Sverdrup 101, and Gala reception and book release at 5–7 pm in the May Gallery.
Bill Barrett other Kodachrome collaborators will be interviewed the morning of April 15, at 11 am, on the Cityscape program on St. Louis Public Radio Station (NPR) 90.7.
