Mezzo-soprano Jennifer Johnson Presents a Solo Recital at Webster University
What/Who:
Jennifer Johnson, Webster alumna and current member of the Lindemann Young Artist Program at the Metropolitan Opera, sings a solo recital. Pianist will be Gail Hintz.
Ms. Johnson was a winner of the 2008 National Metropolitan Opera Auditions, and later that year made an auspicious and much-lauded solo debut with Opera Theatre of Saint Louis, as Nicklausse in Offenbach’s “The Tales of Hoffman.” In 2009 she sang the role of Kate in Benjamin Britten’s “Owen Wingrave” with Chicago Opera Theatre, and in December 2009, debuted with the Metropolitan Opera as the Sandman in “Hansel and Gretel.”
Her hour-long program includes concert songs, operetta arias, and a few lighter numbers as well including:
Quattro canzoni populari by Berio (Italian)
Mignon Lieder by Wolf (German)
A set of 3 or 4 Barber Songs (English)
Perichole's Tipsy Aria from La Perichole (French)
Vilja's Lied from The Merry Widow (English)

Cost:
Tickets are $10 for all who attend. Proceeds benefit the Nigh Opera Scholarship Fund at Webster University.
