“The Music Of …” a Concert by the Webster University Wind Ensemble
What/Who:
The Webster University Wind Ensemble, directed by James A. Martin, will perform a concert of music both written and transcribed for the Wind Ensemble. They works performed range from Sweelinck’s Ballo del Granduca (1589) to Gordon Jacob’s first composition for wind ensemble in 1924 (An Original Suite). The program also includes Gustav Holst’s Mars from The Planets and the Symphony #3 by Boris Kozhevnikov.
The second half of the concert features the Webster Choral Society under the direction of Graduate students Andrew Hampton and Charles Mueller, both completing an MA in Choral Conducting. The Choral Society will be performing Francesco Durante's Magnificat. Also featured on this work is a student string quartet, faculty member Joe Neske on harpsichord, and student and faculty soloists.
