Pianist Peter Collins in Concert at Webster University
What/Who:
Webster University presents pianist Peter Collins in concert. The program will feature the music of Franz Schubert, Franz Liszt, Alexander Scriabin and Max Reger.
Peter Collins is a professor of music and coordinator of the keyboard division at Missouri State University. He earned his bachelors and masters degrees from the Peabody Conservatory as a student of Lillian Freundlich. After receiving awards in several piano competitions (the American Chopin Competition, the Washington International Piano Competition, the American Beethoven Foundation and the University of Maryland International Piano Competition) he entered the doctoral program of the University of Michigan where he studied with Louis Nagel on a Regent’s Fellowship.
At Missouri State University Collins served as director of the Missouri Chamber Players and toured Europe four times with members of the group. His recordings include nineteenth-century piano music of his native city of New Orleans (Centaur Records), the music of women composers (Hester-Park Records) and an upcoming release of chamber music of American composer Richard Faith.
