Webster University Presents the Faculty Jazz Ensemble in Concert

Webster University presents the Faculty Jazz Ensemble in a concert to benefit the Suzy Shepard Jazz Scholarship Fund. The ensemble consists of jazz faculty members Randall Holmes-trumpet, Paul DeMarinis-clarinet and saxophones, Steve Schenkel-guitar and banjo, Carolbeth True-piano, Jay Hungerford-bass and Kevin Gianino-drums. The ensemble will also include trombonist Wayne Coniglio who is a member of the Webster Summer Jazz Camp faculty.
The repertoire for the concert will include note for note transcriptions and interpretations of classic jazz recordings of the 1920's and 1930's. Among the artists represented in this retrospective concert will be King Oliver, The Original Dixieland Jazz Band, Jelly Roll Morton, Johnny Dodds, Red Nichols, Frank Teschemacher, Louis Armstrong, Duke Ellington, Benny Goodman, Count Basie and Lester Young.
The Suzy Shepard Jazz Scholarship Fund was established in 1985 to provide financial assistance for outstanding jazz studies students of sophomore standing or above with a B or better grade point average.
