    Webster University Presents a 9/11 Commemoration


    The Music Department at Webster University presents a concert of works to commemorate the tragic events 10 years ago on Sept. 11. The concert will feature both music and the spoken word. Readings of prose and poetry will be read by WEbster University President Elizabeth J. Stroble and University faculty members. Music performed:

    Shall We Gather at the River, Aaron Copland (1900-1990) and Offertory John Ness Beck (1930-1987) with Jeffrey Carter, baritone  and Trent Patterson, piano

    September, Richard Strauss (1864-1949) with Heather McKenzie Patterson, soprano and Trent Patterson, piano

    Elegischer Gesang, Op. 118, Ludwig van Beethoven (1770-1827) with the Webster University Chamber Singers, Trent Patterson, conductor

    Sifting Through the Ruins, Libby Larsen (b. 1950)

    To the Towers Themselves (Anonymous, Collected by the Parks Department, probably from Union Square)Don't look for me anymore from the "wailing wall" at Grand Central Terminal (Alicia Vasquez, September 14, 2001) Second and Third movements performed by  Martha J.     Second Movement of Larghetto performed by the Webster University Chamber Orchestra; Paul G. Davis, conductor
