GERN 6000: Integrated Studies in Gerontology
Course Description:
The student is expected to synthesize and integrate the learning experiences acquired in gerontology and to evaluate the research and current topics relative to this major. Techniques used to accomplish these goals may vary. Prerequisite: completion of all other required courses in this major.
Course Level Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this class students will:
- Produce a publication quality literature review using APA publication guidelines.
- Fully research a topic in the field of gerontology.
- Provide a critical analysis (evaluation) of the material researched.
- Prepare and present a PowerPoint Presentation.
- Provide a single page critique of their PowerPoint Presentation.
Prerequisites
It is assumed the student has adequate writing and analytical skills. Also, as for all Internet courses, the student must be disciplined and self-motivated. Successful completion of all other required courses in this major is required for registration in this course. You must be capable of graduate level work.

The course will be conducted entirely online. Students are expected to participate in all course activities as assigned by the instructor. Course grades may be based on successful completion of a term paper, examinations, and class participation, as reflected in contribution to weekly online discussions.
