NURS 3270: Nursing Research and Evidence-Based Practice
Course Description
The research process and strategies for critiquing nursing research are discussed. Using research findings to guide evidence-based nursing practice is emphasized.
Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Discuss the relationship of theory, research, and practice.
- Describe the steps of evidence-based practice.
- Discuss the research process.
- Discuss ethical considerations in research.
- Critically evaluate published nursing research.
- Compare and contrast nursing research, evidence-based practice, and research utilization.
Prerequisites
Admission into the BSN program is required to take any nursing course. NURS 3010, 3030 and PSYC 2750

Course Activities
The course will be conducted entirely online. Students are expected to participate in all course activities as assigned by the instructor. Course activities may include readings, presentations, discussions, quizzes, lecture, discussion, small group work, and written assignments. However, individual instructors may incorporate other activities such as journals and group work into the course materials.

Student Assignments Retained
The College of Arts and Sciences will retain some random student assignments or
projects for the purpose of academic assessment as it relates to student
learning outcomes.
