Meet ChARLie
ChARLie is the Crisis & Alert Response Liason of Webster University. He’s smooth; he’s smart. But, sometimes ChARLie gets into a bit of trouble. With a little help from Public Safety and the Crisis Response Team, though, ChARLie is learning what to do and what NOT to do in an emergency. Here, he shows you what he’s learned about how to keep himself and those around him safe.
ChARLie’s Tips to Be Emergency-Prepared
1. Review Responding to a Crisis to learn more about what to do in the event of an emergency.
2. Sign up for Webster Alerts so you can receive emergency notifications via text messaging or email.
3. Learn the following response terms that are used in emergency notifications.
| Evacuate Promptly and calmly proceed to the nearest exit, as indicated in RED on your location’s Emergency Evacution Plan. (Evacuation Plans are posted on walls and doors around campus.) Await further instructions. |

| Seek Shelter Promptly and calmly proceed to the nearest interior storm shelter or safe area, as indicated in BLUE on your location’s Emergency Evacuation Plan. (Evacuation Plans are posted on walls and doors around campus.) Await further instructions. |

| Shelter in Place Remain in your current location; do not evacuate. Promptly and calmly close and lock doors leading into your location. Close windows and draw window blinds. Await further instructions. |
