Crisis and Emergency Assessment
Webster University is vulnerable to a variety of threats. Incident action plans consistent with an all-hazards approach should be in place for such specific incidents. An assessment of potential crisis and emergency situations that could emerge within the Webster University includes the following:
- Abduction
- Active shooter (Targeted School Violence)
- Armed/dangerous Intruder(s)
- Assaults (physical or sexual)
- Bomb threat
- Civil disorders/disruptions
- Classroom disruptions
- Contagious disease and/or outbreaks
- Death of a member of the University community (faculty or staff)
- Death of a student (accidental death, homicide, suicide)
- Earthquake
- Explosion
- Fire
- Gymnasium-based or outdoor event accident
- Hazardous materials – internal incident (science lab incident, janitor closet, shop/art class, swimming pool)
- Hazardous materials – external incident (nearby facilities that store, use, or produce hazardous materials; materials being transported via highway or rail)
- Incident related to, or as a result of, international political turmoil
- Missing person
- Threats of violence (verbal, electronic, written)
- Transportation accident (can, bus, air, rail)
- Severe Weather (tornado, snow/ice, wind, rain)
- Any of these occurring on an extended campus site
