Spring 2 New Student Orientation – Saturday, March 9, 2013
Webster students who will be attending class for the first time during the Spring 2 term, which begins March 16, should attend the New Student Orientation scheduled for 9 a.m. on Saturday, March 9, 2013, at the Sam Houston Community Center (formerly the Fort Sam Houston Club) on Fort Sam Houston. Current students who have already attended classes, but have not yet attended a New Student Orientation, should also make an effort to attend this session
During the Orientation new students are given an overview of the University and its programs; University policies are explained; and students are introduced to Webster unique programs such as Connections and Webster University’s online library. Webster’s Directors and academic advisors will be in attendance and will be able to meet with students to answer any questions they might have.
In an attempt to make this a fun event, students are encouraged to wear a t-shirt or hat or anything that represents one of their previous alma maters.
All Webster University students are required to attend a New Student Orientation. Please call any Webster office if you will not be able to attend.
Webster-San Antonio students who have registered for the upcoming Spring 1 term, which begins Jan. 5, can now download their class syllabi from the Webster San Antonio website. Students can click on the “Schedules & Syllabi” link on the left side of this page and follow the links to the appropriate syllabus.
Each syllabus contains information about the textbooks needed for that class. Students can also find out about their books by going to the Webster Online Bookstore which can be accessed by clicking on the orange “Order Textbooks Online” link on the Webster San Antonio homepage.
Students who have not yet registered for Spring 1 and 2 classes should contact a Webster office as soon as possible to register.
Webster University Recognized as ‘Best for Vets’
The Military Times named Webster University to its “Best for Vets: Colleges 2013” list. The list is based on a survey of more than 650 schools. Only the top 68 schools made it onto the list. Webster University was ranked 38th. The survey recognizes schools’ efforts to accommodate veterans and active-duty service members.
Among the top 68 schools, Webster University
- was one of only 16 private schools on the list;
- had a graduation rate of 61 percent (only 10 schools had a higher graduation rate)
- received a 4 star rating for its VA staff (only 15 of the schools received the top rating.)

Valley Hi Gate Visitor’s Reception Center (VRC) at Lackland AFB Closed
The Valley Hi Gate Visitor’s Reception Center (VRC) at Lackland AFB is closed until December 15, 2012. Students and faculty who need to obtain a nine-week pass for the Fall 2, 2012 term must go to the Luke Gate Visitor’s Reception Center to obtain that pass. The Luke Gate VRC is located off of Southwest Military Drive, and is the next gate after the Wilford Hall gate if you are traveling south on Military Drive from Highway 90. The Luke Gate is designated as “1” on the Lackland AFB map available on this website. If you are traveling south, you will make a left turn into the Luke Gate. Once you have obtained your pass, take Luke Blvd to Kenly Avenue, then turn right on Kenly. Proceed south on Kenly until you come to Truemper, then turn right on Truemper. Take Truemper to Carswell, then turn left on Carswell and proceed to Building 7065. In subsequent weeks, you can enter through the Valley Hi gate if you wish; however, Truemper from the Valley Hi gate to Carswell is down to one lane in both directions.”
