CURRENT BUSINESS

Veteran’s Memorial Project – John announced that there are 11 new bricks to be added to the Brick Garden at the Dogtown Veterans Memorial. He is planning a dedication ceremony on May 26, 2013, the Sunday of the Memorial Day weekend.

Plans are in place for the new cannon, which will require a concrete pad that will accommodate it. John has received the permit required and is working with a new company on building the concrete pad, as our former landscaper is no longer in business.

If the pad, the braces and the cannon are not in place for Memorial Day Weekend, the dedication ceremony for the cannon will be held on the 4th of July.

In the meantime John is planning the wording for the marble plaque that will be installed in front of the pad. It will honor the family who donated the funds for the cannon. The plaque may not be ready for dedication until Labor Day or possibly Veterans Day in November 2013.

Street Musicians Festival 2013 – John announced this year’s Street Musician’s honoree – Charles Moser.

Per Bob Corbett: Charlie Moser had a great band and played many of the better places in St. Louis. The Corbetts remember him best when he was doing a favor for his cousin; Randall Dwyer, owner of "The White House", Randall's Dogtown tavern. The family all got together there on Friday and Saturday nights (closed on Sunday). There were two large dance floors, one inside and one outside in the garden. The band sat in an open stage in between the two. Great memories.

The date will be September 21, 2013, the same day as the Forest Park Balloon Race, and also the St. James Parish Carnival. John plans to work together with the St. James group on locations, for the musician and food booths, etc.

Historian/Archivist – - DHS Historian Bob Corbett has no report at this time.

Nancy and Joe Phelan Photo Donations – John spoke about the history research he planned to do as follow up to the photograph of the Dudeck Grocery Store. He wishes to find the proof of ownership for the property at 6400 Cheltenham/West Park Avenue.

In searching the U.S. Census records and the St. Louis City Directory around 1900, he found that the Dudeck Family was not living at that address, but at 6404 West Park. However, the Jennemann Family was residing at the time at 6401 West Park Avenue, the mirror image building across the street.

A new webpage is planned for the Dudeck properties as more information is found and/or received.

NEW BUSINESS - There was no new business raised for discussion.

The meeting adjourned at 11:10 a.m. The next meeting will be June 2013 at 10:00am. An email will be sent to all list members announcing the meeting, date and location.

Respectfully submitted,
