GENERAL BUSINESS

Archives/Donations- Bob proposed a new series of lectures. These would be shorter lectures and would either follow the monthly DHS meetings or be included in the actual meeting. Bob would be willing to contribute and hoped that others might also be willing to give one or two. We have our own projector for power point or other graphic/photo presentations. Discussion followed and it was decided that we would schedule presentations at every other meeting. The second Saturday of odd months, January, March, etc., there would be a DHS business meeting. The second Saturday of the even months, February, April, etc., there would be lectures or presentations. Bob will follow up and he plans to present the first lecture in February 2010.

CURRENT BUSINESS

Officers and Board Members – In reviewing the current listing and terms for DHS Officers and Board Members, it was found that several terms had expired in 2008, requiring nominations and elections for filling those terms. Four nominations were open for re-election. Two positions were opened to new nominations. A motion was made and seconded, to nominate six names to fill the new and the extended four year terms. Another motion was made and seconded to open a Vote by Acclimation for all six nominees. Both motions were voted on and passed. See below for the new listing of current DHS officers.

THE CURRENT OFFICERS OF THE DOGTOWN HISTORICAL SOCIETY Officers are automatically members of the board for the duration of their terms as officers.

CURRENT AT LARGE BOARD MEMBERS OF THE DOGTOWN HISTORICAL SOCIETY

Labor Day Parade – Plans changed. There was no Labor Day Parade held in Dogtown.

Soldier’s Memorial Project – Still pending, the owner of the property remains willing to support the project.

DHS Community Service – John opened a discussion regarding the expansion of our organizational purpose to local Dogtown community and neighborhood organizations and business groups. The DHS has been approved as a 501c 3 organization. The question asked was, is it possible for the DHS to offer Dogtown neighborhood organizations and business groups an opportunity to join the DHS, under the umbrella of its non-profit status, on various community projects not affordable without a non-profit status? John will follow up.

DHS Fundraiser activities – John also opened a discussion about fundraising for the DHS. One suggestion was that it be mentioned in letters and email notes regarding 2010 dues. John suggested that we look into a Street Musician’s Festival for Spring, 2010, and a Talent Show for Summer, 2010. Tom Haller suggested a better use of our Dogtown email list, for this matter and possibly for other purposes as well. John will follow up.

The meeting adjourned at 11:20a.m. The next business meeting will be Saturday, January 9, 2010, at 10:00 a.m. at 6314 West Park Ave, St. Louis, MO 63139
