William Brady was born in Ireland in 1825 and immigrated to the United States sometime before 1860. William and his family lived in Forest Park before the city bought the park in 1876. William worked as a miner in the park. After the city officially purchased the park he moved to the Graham/West park area as one of the first settlers there. This information came from the 1880 census and the 1878 Pitzman Atlas map. He was working in the brickyard at this time. William was one of the sixty-one names determined to be early members of St.James Church and he is considered to be a charter member. He resided at 1361 Graham St. until his death on Feb 17, 1893. His wife Mary preceded him in death and both are buried at Calvary Cemetery. William and Mary had nine children and five generations of Brady’s have lived in the Dogtown area since.
