VERSE CURSE

By: Julie Duane

The urge to write verse

Can turn into a curse

You'll spend all your time

Just thinking in rhyme

Things you usually do

Will be somewhat askew

And you're sure to regret

Some things you forget

My cats look askance

With a pitiful glance

At their empty food bowls

Poor fat little souls -

I forgot their dinner

They should be thinner

But I'm guilty of coddling

Them till they're waddling

All the household chores

Like cleaning the floors

And wiping off dust

Are things that will just

Have to bide their time

While I'm thinking in rhyme
