A TIME LINE OF THE VORBECK FAMILY IN DOGTOWN

The house was built at my father request, in 1934. John Badendick and his brother name unknown, they lived in the 6400 block of wade.

When my father (John Louis Vorbeck) moved into the house at 1500 Tamm in 1934 he brought his wife Mary Josephine McKelvey-Vorbeck. He also brought my Grandmother Mary Aughivan-McKelvey, my mothers mother, and her brother, my uncle, William Sands McKelvey.

They moved in to the house in 1934. My parents had the following children when they moved in

John Chester Vorbeck, born May 23, 1926 - Attended St. James School Mary Virginia Aka Virginia Vorbeck born September 5, 1925 - Attended St. James School.

Joseph Anthony Vorbeck born March 1, 1930 - Attended St. James School William James Vorbeck born January 8 1933 - Attended St. James School

James Lawrence Vorbeck was born October 5, 1936 - Attended St. James School

John Louis Vorbeck died July 12, 1968. Mary Josephine McKelvey-Vorbeck sold the house at 1500 Tamm about 1970 and moved to the Plaza Square Apartment, downtown.

John Chester Vorbeck Graduated from St. James, won a scholar ship to St. Louis U. High and another to Roll School of Mines. He then joined the US Navy and served in W.W.II in the South Pacific.

Mary Virginia Aka Virginia graduated from St. James, attended Nerix Hall, High School, and Webster College. She attended De Paul School of Nursing and became an Registered Nurse. She live with the family until she accepted a position in Alaska and left Dogtown in about 1947.

Joseph Anthony Vorbeck graduated from St. James, attended St. Louis U High, Then went to Gradwell Medical Lab School graduated left Dogtown about 1950, to set up a Medical Lab in Ashland, Kentucky.

William James Vorbeck graduated from St. James, attended Christian Brothers College High school AKA CBC graduated in 1952 and went to work in the St. Louis Police Department at the urging of Sgt... Joseph Phealen, November of 1952.

Was drafted into the US Army in April 23rd, 1953 and return to Dogtown April 1955, married with one daughter set up housekeeping on the corner of Know and Elizabeth Avenue in Dogtown. Left Dogtown for good in 1959.

James Lawrence Vorbeck graduated from St. James School, attended Christian Brothers College Aka CBC and graduated in 1954, the attended Quincy College until 1956. Lived at 1500 Tamm until he was married August 30, 1958.

To sum it up the Vorbeck's lived in Dogtown from 1934 until 1970.
