#1527: Fiction story on Haiti in Harper's Magazine (January 2000) (fwd)

From:JVoordouw@aol.com

The Harper's Magazine of January 2000 (which came out last week) features a
story by Ben Fountain, a writer living in Dallas, entitled "Reve Haitien".
The story is named after a painting of Hector Hippolyte.

The story takes place during the years of the coup. An OAS observer living
in Pacot becomes involved in a resistance scheme, and is introduced in the
central place of art in the Haitian psyche (or reality).....
