He should be telling us that all these people who left the country because

nothing to worry about. Isn't it true that in a democracy differences of
opinion are just that, differences of opinion. Why are government
personalities in Haiti so affraid of descent and counter-propaganda? >>

If it were merely a matter of political one-upsmanship between two equally
powerful parties, then all's fair (ok, not necessarily ethical but just the
way things are). In this case, in Haiti, we are talking about treason, which
in many countries may be punishable by death. The Webster's dictionary
defines treason as follows: 2 : the offense of attempting by overt acts to
overthrow the government of the state to which the offender owes allegiance
or to kill or personally injure the sovereign or the sovereign's family.

If we expect the government to act like a long existing democracy, then the
opposition to it must act like a long existing opposition.......civilly.
This means no overthrow, no plotting to remove the president, no terrorist
activities to manipulate political climate and direction. This opposition is
only interested in one thing.......and it is not the welfare of the country
of Haiti. They are only interested in removing Aristide and the Lavalas
party from any office in the government. Why should traitors to Haiti be
safe in Haiti? Or anywhere? Why are the criminals of the coup regimes
living comfortably on Haitian money in lovely homes around the world? Why is
the dupe, Constant, living free, though not in as much comfort as some
others? In a democracy; these people are traitors; they committed treason
against their country. In the spirit of reconciliation, we are supposed to
turn the other cheek. But how stupid do you think the people of Haiti really
are? This is what is so rankling to those who have had control over the
majority class for all these years. Imagine the audacity of those people
(sans education) actually having a say in what happens in their lives. If
the people who would plot the downfall of the rightful government of Haiti
are disturbed that it is not so easy this time.......tough beans. If they
feel threatened, then they are smarter than they look.
