Fellow members,
I am looking for a person in the Boston or Boston suburb area who might be
willing to volunteer to tutor an eight yr. old boy from Haiti until May. He
is here for cleft palette surgery at Shriners, but his surgery has been
postponed until May. He is very bright, despite the fact his speech is
gargled. He speaks Creole and a bit of French. His mom speaks French and
Creole and is educated. A person who is an elementary school professional or
high school or college student who speaks Creole would be a good match. Or is
there a school program or class room that could incorporate him for a few
months. Fabien was an excellent student in Haiti until this year when his
class mates teased and tormented because of his speech problems.

Also, for this same little fellow. Is anyone familiar with any pediatric
speech facility or professional in Haiti in the Port au Prince area. These
folks live about an hour north in St. Marc.. Following surgery, fabien will
need speech therapy follow up to put him on an even playing field with his
peers.
Thanks for the suggestions,
Rebecca
