a1315: the arts (fwd)

From: Amy L Cornish <lueen3@juno.com>

I attended two art shows last month in New York, where Haitian art was
represented. One was the Outsider art fair, followed by the National
Black Fine Art Show. At both shows, Gallery Bourbon-Lally from Montreal
had an excellent collection of "traditional" Haitian arts as well as
various contemporary artists. I can offer one more information on these
shows if anyone is interested. I am however, doing my part to promote
and educate about haitian art. I have many slides of Haitian work which
are included in my classes that I have taught at Colleges and
Universities. I am also incorporating them into my art history class at
LaGuardia College. When lecturing on portraits, why not use Luce Turnier
instead of Rembrandt!
There is certainly much more to be discussed about haitian art-
