Robert Saint-Brice
1893-1973

Saint-Brice is one of the key figures of the Haitian art movement and his influence difficult to overestimate.

Born in 1893, He began painting at 50 and became a member of the Centre d'Art in 1949. His career was short and his production very limited. He died in 1973. His art is raw, personal, original and sacred. André Malraux considered Saint Brice one of the most important of the painters he discovered in Haiti. He believed that Saint-Brice and Hector Hyppolite were the spiritual masters and precursors of the now world-renown "Saint Soleil" community. Each Saint-Brice is a treasure and most grace the walls of the world's finest museums. This work from a private collection is a rare opportunity for the serious collector.
