Port-au-Prince, March 21, 2002 -(AHP)- Prime Minister Yvon Neptune met
Wednesday with the members of the Superior Council of the National Police
(CSNP) which he presides.

While with the members of this institution, the head of the government
reported on the general situation of the country with respect to public
security before going into detail, according to a source close to the Prime
Minister's office.

The discussions focused in particular on questions of justice and security,
acts of banditry and illicit activities.

Other topics that were discussed included automobile traffic flow and
inspection of vehicles for security purposes.

The Prime Minister and the other officials of the CSPN are expected to have
monthly meetings to go over various issues, in particular banditry and the
strategy for dealing with it.

Emergency meetings to address matters that can't wait for the monthly
meetings are also provided for.

On Thursday the Prime Minister met with the members of the Council on
Modernization of the Public Sector Enterprises (CMEP).

During that meeting, Mr. Neptune along with the directors of CMEP conducted
an overview of issues and cases to be dealt with in the context of
modernization of the State enterprises.

They discussed the difficulties encountered in the effort to make progress in
some cases due to the political crisis and its impact on the economy of the
country.

Two institutions have already gone through the process of modernization of
State enterprises that was begun in 1996. Those two are the Flour Mills and
the Cement Factory of Haiti.
