The far right (Le Pen and Megret) got 19.3%, a gain of 4% compared with the
first round of the last presidential election in 1995.  The far left got
10.6 % (gain of 5.3 %). The classic right got 38 % (loss of 6 %), while the
classic left fell to 32 % (loss of 3 %).  In the end there was only 0.68 %
between Le Pen and Jospin.
