PORT-AU-PRINCE, May 2 (Reuters) - Unidentified gunmen attacked a small
town police station in Haiti on Wednesday, killing a bystander, police
said.
The gunmen seized weapons during the raid in Belladere, a small town
near Haiti's border with the Dominican Republic, said police spokesman Jean
Dady Simeon.
Simeon said there had been no arrests.
Police identified the dead man as a local activist for President
Jean-Bertrand Aristide's ruling Lavalas Family party.
The incident at Belladere was an echo of several attacks against
police stations in the impoverished Caribbean nation last July in which
four policemen were killed and a dozen were injured.
